A 15-year-old boy was killed and another youth was injured in a drive-by shooting by gang members early Friday in Wilmington, police said.

Manuel Franquez of Harbor City died at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Harbor City at 2:08 a.m., 50 minutes after he was shot while riding with friends on Anaheim Street, Los Angeles Police Detective Patrick Marshall said.

Another 15-year-old from Harbor City, Ruben Alcala, was shot in the arm and was scheduled to undergo surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

The teen-agers and three other youths were driving home from a friend’s house in Long Beach when another car pulled alongside near the intersection of Anaheim Street and Eubank Avenue. Two men in the other car fired “numerous” shots, Marshall said.

Police said that they have no suspects in the shooting but that they believe both the victims and their attackers are gang members.
