Eamonn Coghlan, holder of the world indoor mile record, was one of three double winners in the Manufacturers Hanover Track and Field meet at West Point, N.Y.
The 37-year-old Irishman, making a comeback after being injured in an auto accident last year, won the two-mile run in 8:53.15. Three hours later, he returned to win the 1,500 meters in 3:54.63.
“I’m working my way back slowly,” said Coghlan, who established his world record of 3:49.78 in the mile in 1983. “I haven’t set any timetable, but I don’t expect to be ready for any major indoor meet this season.”
Neville Hodge swept the men’s sprints, winning the 55-meters in 6.41 and the 200 meters in 22.08. Glenda Truesdale won the women’s 200 in 25.50 and the 55-meter high hurdles in 8.07.
