COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Middleton Scores 31, but Chapman Loses
Guard Roger Middleton scored 31 points, but Chapman College lost to Sonoma, 78-73, in the third-place game of the Chico State basketball tournament Saturday.
Sonoma built a 75-65 lead with two minutes to play, and though Chapman cut it to 75-70, the Panthers could not get any closer.
Frantz Reyes, a 7-4 junior center, added 15 points and 13 rebounds for Chapman (7-4).
Sonoma (9-3) was led by Creedence Perkins’ 25 points.
At the Concordia Portland tournament:
Christ College Irvine 100, Concordia (St. Paul, Minn.) 93--In a third-place game, Christ College Irvine (6-9) was led by Jaime McShan’s game-high 34 points. Teammate Albert Gay had 16 points and eight assists, Mike Rogers had 14 points, Kevin Kurz 13 and Keith Rogers 12.
Dan Hasse had 33 points for Concordia (5-4).
In nonconference games:
Biola 91, Southern California College 84--Jeff Bickmore scored 29 points to lead Southern California College (6-5). Jeff Baker had 21 points for Biola (5-10).
Christian Heritage 96, Point Loma Nazarene 83--Brad Soucie had 26 points to lead Christian Heritage.
In a nonconference women’s game:
Cal State Fullerton 69, Wisconsin Green Bay 50--Genia Miller had 33 points to lead the host Titans (5-4).
