Event to Honor Martin Luther King

The fourth annual citywide commemoration of the birthday of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Robinson Park, 1061 N. Fair Oaks Ave.

Events include two films about King and an address by the Rev. L. L. C. Hammond, pastor of Scott United Methodist Church, Pasadena. In addition, elementary, junior high and high school essay contest winners from the Pasadena Unified School District will read their works. A free continental breakfast and lunch will also be served.

The celebration is sponsored by the Martin Luther King Community Coalition, Revelation Child Development Center, the Pasadena-Foothill Branch of the Los Angeles Urban League, Black Men’s Forum and the city of Pasadena.
