Dave Gorrie, former Pepperdine baseball coach and an athletic development officer at the university, was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Assn. Hall of Fame. In 10 years at Pepperdine, Gorrie had a 409-202 record. His UC Santa Barbara teams won nearly 800 games in 19 years.

Nicky Bravin of Rancho Park, a member of the U.S. junior national fencing team, has returned to classes at Stanford after taking part in a Junior World Cup tournament in Budapest, Hungary. Bravin, a sophomore, is a member of the fencing team at Stanford. A graduate of Hamilton High School, he has been a student of Ted Katzoff at the Westside Fencing Center in Culver City.

Bonnie Durdy of Culver City has signed a contract for a second year to compete in triathlons for the National Triathlon Training Camp team, according to the camp. She finished 1989 with a No. 13 ranking nationally in the Coke Grand Prix, finished in the top 10 in seven triathlons and set a world Ironman swim record of 49:51 for 2.4 miles at Ironman Canada.

Michael Joyce, a junior at St. Monica High School and a winner of the National Boys 18 Indoor tennis championships in December, is competing in the adidas invitational, which ends Sunday at Indian Wells.

Jim Hookstratten, a champion one-armed golfer, shot a one-under par 32 for nine holes at Penmar Golf Course, according to the newsletter of the Penmar Men’s Golf Club.

Jay Pittman shot a 33 for nine holes to win the January tournament of the Penmar Men’s Golf Club. Other flight winners and their gross scores: Pete Vaughn, B, 37; Henry Pfefferkorn, C, 40; Jim Bellenoit, D, 39, and Robert Konecki, temporary handicaps, 42.
