USX Corp.: Buoyed by strong energy results partly from higher oil prices, the steel company said 1989 net income rose 28% from a year earlier to $965 million. Revenue totaled $18.7 billion, up 11%. The Pittsburgh-based firm said operating income from its energy segment totaled $987 million, more than double the level in 1988. The company’s Texas oil and gas unit recorded a one-time gain of $144 million from a favorable settlement of a lawsuit.
