‘Batman,’ Tom Cruise Lead List of ‘Faves’ for Teen-Age Readers

Tom Cruise, Kirk Cameron, Molly Ringwald and the band New Kids on the Block led the annual “teen faves” entertainment survey compiled by ‘Teen magazine.

Readers filling out ballots in the October issue of ‘Teen also picked “Batman” as their favorite movie of 1989, “21 Jump Street” the best dramatic TV series and “Roseanne” the top comedy series.

Richard Marx was the male vocalist winner and Debbie Gibson the female vocalist. New Kids on the Block was picked in two categories--”fave new group” and “fave pop-rock group.”

Alyssa Milano of “Who’s the Boss?” was the favorite TV actress and “Growing Pains” star Cameron won in the male category. “Days of Our Lives” was the best daytime TV soap show, and favorite soap stars were “General Hospital’s” Jack Wagner and “Santa Barbara’s” Marcy Walker.

Funniest comic honors went to Eddie Murphy, while Winona Ryder and Christian Slater were voted favorite newcomers.

The results were compiled from ballots submitted by 13,800 readers of ‘Teen magazine, spokeswoman Lori Moore said.
