SEAL BEACH : Truck Spills Load of Concrete on Freeway
A cement truck overturned and dumped its load on the San Diego Freeway on Monday, closing three lanes of southbound traffic for more than three hours.
Jerrold W. Wolff, 44, of Lakeside was driving south on the freeway about 2 p.m. when the truck blew a tire just north of the Garden Grove Freeway, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Diane Hartz said.
Wolff lost control of the truck and swerved across three lanes, crashing into the center divider, she said. The truck overturned, spilling a full load of concrete.
Despite heavy traffic, no other cars were involved in the accident, Hartz said. Wolff received minor injuries and was taken to Humana Hospital in Westminster.
Three southbound lanes were closed for more than three hours as crews cleaned up the spill, Hartz said. The northbound carpool lane also was closed for a short time as concrete from the center divider was removed.
