Fox Exemption Opposed: The three major networks and a handful of broadcasters and producers filed comments with the Federal Communications Commission opposing any exemption for Fox Broadcasting Co. from so-called financial interest and syndication rules. Fox earlier asked the commission to revise its definition of a network and allow Fox to stay in the lucrative domestic syndication market once it expands its programming to 15 hours a week. The only filers to back Fox wholeheartedly were Fox affiliate stations, but most groups were in favor of re-examining the 20-year-old rules.
