UC Irvine and Saddleback College have been recommended for California Arts Council funding to support dance presentations in the 1990-91 season. Under the council’s Dance Touring Initiative program, UC Irvine would receive $13,500 toward presentations of the Alvin Ailey, American Indian Dance Theatre and Royal New Zealand Ballet troupes at the Irvine Theatre, scheduled to open in October. Saddleback would be awarded $5,400 toward bookings of the DanceBrazil, Jazzdance and Ottawa Ballet companies in its McKinney Theatre. The council is scheduled to announce its awards March 16 in Santa Barbara.
