COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Orange Coast Sweeps Palomar in Volleyball
Orange Coast College defeated Palomar in three games in a South Coast Conference men’s volleyball match at Orange Coast Wednesday.
Matt Lyles, Lance Lyons and Craig Buccola each had 16 kills to lead Orange Coast to a 15-7, 15-11, 15-12, victory.
Orange Coast improved to 8-1 and Palomar dropped to 4-2.
In another South Coast Conference men’s volleyball match:
Golden West 3, Grossmont 1--Erik Zeno’s 16 kills led Golden West to a 14-16, 15-11, 15-3, 15-12, victory at Golden West.
In Orange Empire Conference softball:
Cypress 9, Riverside 0--Karen Kuypers hit two doubles and had five runs batted in to lead visiting Cypress, 10-2 and 1-0 in the conference. Tricia Barr had three hits, including two doubles, knocked in a run and scored twice. Sally Dugas (4-1) was the winning pitcher, striking out four, walking one and allowing two hits.
Orange Coast 2, Golden West 1 (10 innings)--Kellie Newcombe singled home Kim Clark with two outs in the bottom of the 10th to give Orange Coast (11-1, 2-0) the victory. Golden West is 13-7, 1-1. Newcombe’s fourth-inning single also drove in Clark with Orange Coast’s first run. Wendy Robinson had three hits for OCC.
