NATION : Raped Kids’ Mothers Get Prison
ALLEGAN, Mich. — Two mothers convicted of letting men repeatedly rape their children were sentenced today to 40 years in prison on another conviction of forcing two of the children to have sex.
Circuit Judge George Corsiglia sentenced Carolyn Wilson, 42, and Annette Sanford, 34, each to 10 to 40 years in prison on one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Corsiglia also sentenced Wilson to 20 to 40 years and Sanford to 18 to 40 years on a second rape count. The sentences are to run concurrently.
The women were convicted in January of forcing Wilson’s then-11-year-old son and Sanford’s then-9-year-old daughter to have sex in 1987 while the mothers watched.
On Wednesday, a separate jury convicted the women of criminal sexual conduct for lining their children up and allowing men to choose among them for sex. They face up to life imprisonment when they are sentenced.
