UNDER THE GUN: Pop stars all make charitable contributions these days--it’s simply part of their image upkeep. But leave it to bad-boy rocker Axl Rose to come up with the oddest potential donation of the year. If he can find a taker, the lead singer of Guns N’ Roses has offered to unload one of his favorite toys--his Uzi machine gun. Now encased in a solid block of Lucite (sort of like a heavy-ammo paperweight), the Uzi will go to an appropriate recipient, who presumably can auction it off at a charity event. (This sounds like a project for charity maven Lilly Tartikoff.) Meanwhile, Guns N’ Roses has been holed up in the studio for the past several months with producer Mike Clink, working on its new album. Or will it be albums? The band has so much material (as many as 30 potential songs in the can) that Rose is now saying he wants to release a double album. No one’s guaranteeing what will make the final cut, but songs tentatively set for release currently include “Perfect Crime,” “Don’t Cry,” “Back Off Bitch,” “Coma,” “Civil War” and “November Rain.” The group is aiming for an early fall release.
