Studio Retaliates Against Siskel and Ebert: After Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert panned the film “Nuns on the Run” in an appearance on “The Regis Philbin Show” on Friday, 20th Century Fox notified the critics that no more advance copies of Fox films will be provided. “We have no problem with them not liking the movie,” said Bob Harper, director of marketing for the studio. “But they were on the show promoting their pre-Academy Awards show and, to our thinking, were acting in the capacity of entertainers--not critics. . . . From now on, they can catch up with our films in the theater.”
