THE SIDELINES : McEnroe, Lendl to Help Hungry
ARLINGTON, Va. — John McEnroe and Ivan Lendl will join the fight against hunger when they meet in a tennis exhibition called 2000-LOVE.
The four-man exhibition calling for the end of world hunger by the year 2000 will be held April 3 at the Capital Centre in Largo, Md. Proceeds from the matches will benefit the Hunger Project, an international nonprofit organization focusing on education and communication as the keys to ending chronic, persistent hunger, and D.C. Hunger Action, a nonprofit information and advocacy group that helps Washingtonians find emergency food and apply for federal food programs.
Andre Agassi will meet Tim Mayotte in the opening match, followed by the McEnroe-Lendl confrontation.
