NAMES IN THE NEWS : Johnny Cash Recuperating
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Country singer Johnny Cash was recovering Monday from oral surgery for a nagging dental problem that forced him to postpone a European concert tour, his publicist said.
Cash, 58, underwent surgery Sunday at Nashville’s Baptist Hospital after complications arose from previous surgery to remove a wisdom tooth and a cyst from his jawbone, publicist Hugh Waddell said.
Cash is expected to be released from the hospital soon, but he’ll need at least eight weeks to recover, Waddell said.
The surgery forced Cash to postpone a three-week European concert tour, which had been scheduled to begin March 22 in Heerenveen, Holland. The tour has been rescheduled for later this summer, Waddell said.
