COSTA MESA, IRVINE : 15 Miles of Bike Paths Added to Plan
In response to requests from the cities of Irvine and Costa Mesa, the Orange County Planning Commission this week added nearly 15 miles of bike paths to the county’s long-range master plan.
The proposed bikeways are intended to “refine” the regional bicycle trail system and improve the network for both transportation and recreational purposes, according to transportation planners.
Most of the new proposed bike lanes are within Irvine and Costa Mesa city limits, with the exception of 1 1/2 miles planned for the unincorporated county area along Hicks Canyon Wash north of the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station.
