Cheeseboro Canyon Nature Hike Puts You in Step With Spring What better way to celebrate the arrival of spring than with an early morning walk in the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains, followed by a brunch eaten out-of-doors? From 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, hikers will wind along an easy, three-mile trail in Cheeseboro Canyon, stopping to enjoy a continental-style brunch along the way. Sponsored by the Ventura County Department of Parks and Recreation, the hike will include a naturalist who will discuss the area’s history and wildlife. “The hills are still really green and the weather has been gorgeous,” said Sharol Nelson-Embry, outdoor adventure coordinator for the department.
Families with young children are encouraged to participate.
HOW TO SIGN UP
Cost for the hike, including brunch, is $16 per person. Registration is required by 5 p.m. today. To register or for more information, call the Department of Parks and Recreation at 658-4726.
