Cheviot Hills : County Honors Rosen
Rosalie Rosen of Cheviot Hills was honored this week by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for founding a group dedicated to helping youth by getting them involved in activities designed to “build a better America.”
Rosen, with help from the Los Angeles Swing Dance Club, founded a nonprofit, nonpolitical organization called United Citizens Committee of America in 1975. The committee’s goal and slogan is “Build a Better America Beginning With Me” through dancing, drama, music, arts and sports.
Supervisor Deane Dana presented Rosen with a plaque Tuesday. “While others are asking what can be done to involve youth in positive activities,” Dana said, “Rosalie Rosen and her members are asking, ‘What more can we do to help youngsters while building a better America?’ ”
Rosen said she hopes to work with schools and community groups to encourage them to embrace the program.
