An ex-convict wanted in connection with a narcotics violation was arrested Thursday in Ocean Beach.

Fred R. Griffith, 29, was arrested at 7:30 a.m. at a motel in the 5000 block of West Point Loma Boulevard, said police spokesman Bill Robinson. He said Griffith had 43 doses of LSD in his possession and is being held in lieu of $8,000 bail at County Jail on suspicion of being an ex-convict in possession of a gun and drugs.

James A. Stephens, 32, was also arrested at the motel on suspicion of credit card theft. He is being held in lieu of $53,000 bail on suspicion of 10 counts of burglary, 10 counts of forgery and drug possession.

Stephens had two credit cards that belonged to residents of Rancho Santa Fe and Las Cruces, N.M., Robinson said, adding that the credit card owners had reported the cards missing March 1.

Paxton found a new bicycle, a police scanner, radar detector and other equipment worth $15,000, in the motel room, Robinson said. Police are investigating.
