Greg LeMond, the winner of last year’s Tour de France, said he’ll undergo a medical checkup after exhaustion caused him to quit two consecutive races.
He only made it halfway through a 200-kilometer first stage of a two-day Criterium International in France over the weekend, and the previous weekend he pulled out of a race in Italy.
“I’ve been ill,” LeMond said. “I think I’ve got some kind of infection. I’m going to have a full checkup to get to the bottom of this.”
Despite his fatigue, LeMond is expected to ride in a three-day race in Belguim, beginning Tuesday.
