WESTMINSTER : Woman Is Killed When Cars Collide
A Garden Grove woman died and two other people were injured Monday when two cars collided at Bolsa Avenue and Ward Street, police said.
Rose Marie Monfort, 57, was pronounced dead at UCI Medical Center in Orange, Westminster Police Sgt. Bill Lewis said.
Monfort’s daughter, Patricia Ann Monfort, 22, was driving south on Ward Street when she apparently ran a red light, Lewis said. Her car was struck broadside by another car driven by Ngoc Thi Tran, 41, of Huntington Beach, he said.
Tran was driving east on Bolsa Avenue when the accident occurred about 9:45 a.m., Lewis said.
Tran was taken to UCI Medical Center with head injuries and a broken ankle, Lewis said. Tran was listed in stable condition.
Patricia Monfort was treated for minor head injuries at a nearby hospital and later released, Lewis said.
No citation was issued pending the outcome of an investigation, Lewis said.
