Cypress, OCC Softball Game Ruled Suspended
A softball game between Cypress and Orange Coast colleges has been ruled suspended, one day after a forfeit victory was awarded to Cypress.
With the score tied, 1-1, in the 15th inning Wednesday, Cypress Coach Brad Pickler protested that OCC made an illegal player substitution. The protest was upheld by the umpire, and OCC had to forfeit because it had only eight players left.
But Jack Aten, the supervisor of officials, overruled the umpire’s decision, saying he misinterpreted the rule.
The game has been tentatively scheduled for April 5 at 3 p.m. and will continue from the 15th inning.
