Eleven teen-agers riding in a pickup truck were thrown from it--but none received major injuries--at Interstate 8 at Lake Jennings Park Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The truck was heading westbound at 1 a.m. Sunday when the driver, John Batts, 19, of El Cajon, leaned over his shoulder to tell the passengers riding in the bed of the pickup to quiet down, the CHP said. The vehicle hit the asphalt curb alongside the freeway and overturned down an embankment.
Several of the teen-agers, including Batts, were taken to Grossmont Hospital, where officials said they were treated for minor injuries and released.
