NATION IN BRIEF : NEW JERSEY : New Trump Casino Opens for Test Run
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Gawkers and gamblers got a preview of Donald Trump’s new $1-billion Atlantic City, N.J., casino. The Taj Mahal Casino Resort is on a 17-acre site with a 120,000-square-foot casino floor. It has 1,250 rooms and more than 3,000 slot machines. The slots accepted real coins, but gamblers had to use play money at the craps tables and blackjack and baccarat games during a state-required period of test gaming. Trump made his way through the casino several times, accepting congratulations and signing autographs.
