WHAT GOES UP: The mural at Bowers...
WHAT GOES UP: The mural at Bowers Museum in Santa Ana depicting Orange County’s history was termed one of the county’s “most significant pieces of public art” by the museum’s folk art curator. Now, three years later, curator Paul Apodoca says sadly that the mural, by artist Emigdio Vasquez of Orange, must be torn down for the museum’s expansion. . . . “If it was done on a stucco or wood-framed wall we could keep it, but it’s on a concrete slab” that is being torn down, he said. Apodoca is looking for a new site--same mural, same artist--in Santa Ana.
