THE SIDELINES : Cosby Salutes Injured Blazer

PORTLAND, Ore. —  Bill Cosby wears Ramon Ramos’ jersey on this week’s episode of “The Cosby Show” as a tribute to the Portland Trail Blazer who was critically injured in an automobile accident. Cosby requested the jersey from the Trail Blazers’ office and wore it while Thursday’s episode was being taped.

Ramos’ car hit an icy patch of Interstate 5 south of Portland on Dec. 16 and flipped several times. The rookie forward suffered severe head injuries.

“He is still in a state between a coma and full consciousness,” said Chuck Williams, communications director for Good Samaritan Hospital. “We are seeing improvement from day to day, but the progress is very slow. He’s getting stronger, gaining weight and is basically getting more healthy.”
