3 Sued Over Illegal Contributions to Woo
The Los Angeles city attorney’s office filed suit Wednesday against three top executives of a real estate company, charging them with making $3,500 in illegal contributions to Los Angeles City Councilman Michael Woo’s reelection campaign.
Woo, who returned the donations following an audit by his 1989 campaign staff, was not named in the Superior Court lawsuit.
The suit accuses the three corporate officers of Sherman Oaks-based Lycon Properties Inc. of making seven illegal $500 donations in the names of their children. It seeks civil penalties and an injunction banning any future illegal contributions by the executives or their employees.
The three defendants are Dale Francescon, the company’s chief executive officer; his brother, Robert Francescon, Lycon’s chief financial officer, and William Lyons Jr., the company’s secretary. They could not be reached for comment.
