NATION : Drive-Through Customer Killed
AUGUSTA, Ga. — An apparently impatient man waiting in line at a fast-food restaurant’s drive-through window shot and killed a customer who was ahead of him early today, authorities said.
The gunman was a passenger in a car that drove away after the shooting, and police were looking for him and the driver, said Richmond County Sheriff’s Capt. Edward J. Wilhelm.
The victim, Dale Brantley Peeler, and his girlfriend, Patricia Seim, were waiting for their order at the Krystal restaurant when a man in the vehicle behind them started blowing his horn, Wilhelm said.
Peeler got out of his car and walked back to see what the problem was. The driver of the second car also got out, and the two exchanged words. The passenger in the second vehicle then got out and fired two shots, hitting Peeler once in the chest, Wilhelm said.
