ANGELS ’90 : OPENING-DAY ROSTER

With the Saturday release of pitcher Mike Smithson and the announcement that pitchers Mark Clear and Rich Monteleone, catcher Ron Tingley and infielder Bobby Rose would be optioned to triple-A Edmonton following today’s exhibition against the Dodgers, the Angels trimmed their roster to the April limit of 27 players:

Catchers: John Orton, Lance Parrish.

Infielders: Kent Anderson, Donnie Hill, Jack Howell, Wally Joyner, Mark McLemore, Johnny Ray, Rick Schu.

Outfielders: Dante Bichette, Chili Davis, Brian Downing, Max Venable, Claudell Washington, Devon White.

Pitchers: Jim Abbott, Scott Bailes, Bert Blyleven, Mark Eichhorn, Chuck Finley, Willie Fraser, Bryan Harvey, Mark Langston, Kirk McCaskill, Bob McClure, Greg Minton, Mike Witt.

Disabled list: Dick Schofield (infielder), Bill Schroeder (catcher).
