FULLERTON : City to Buy Property for Seniors Complex
The City Council has agreed unanimously to buy property on East Amerige Avenue for an apartment building for low-income senior citizens.
The owner, First Lutheran Church of Fullerton, has offered to sell the property for $750,000.
The council, acting as the Redevelopment Agency, agreed to search for a developer willing to build up to 50 studio or one-bedroom apartments and keep the rents affordable for low- and moderate-income seniors for the life of the building.
The city would sell the land at a discount and might agree to pay for other improvements at the site to attract a builder willing to keep rents low, redevelopment manager Terry M. Galvin said.
