Huntington Park : Police Can Invoke Fee to Control Loud Parties

The City Council has passed an ordinance that bars “loud or unruly parties” and enables the city to charge for some police costs associated with controlling such parties.

The ordinance, which was approved last week, takes effect next month. It allows the city to charge for police services after a warning is issued in an initial visit by police.

Huntington Park Police Chief Patrick M. Connolly said he did not know how much loud parties were costing the city in police services. Connolly said he did not expect the ordinance to generate much money for the city, but he said it will be a “good, solid tool” to deter raucous gatherings.
