A $1.2 million contract for the construction of a fire station at 135 South Fair Oaks Ave. was awarded Tuesday to Tyler-Cobleigh Inc. of Pasadena.
The Board of Directors voted the contract for the new station 31 to replace the old station at 175 N. Marengo Ave., which is being torn down to make way for the $50.5 million Marengo Block housing development.
The new, two-story station will have 8,966-square feet, including three fire truck bays. Construction will begin in May with completion scheduled by February 1991.
