COSTA MESA : Hospital Dedicates Psychiatric Wing
College Hospital this week dedicated a new 41-bed psychiatric wing, which includes a 17-bed unit for women only.
Janet Daniels-Walberg, the therapist who developed the program, said the unit is needed because women with psychiatric problems generally have low self-esteem and can relate more easily to other women. The four staff members for the wing will be women.
Daniels-Walberg developed a similar program in Corona in 1983.
The new women’s facility will provide treatment mainly for depression and eating disorders, and for victims of abuse. It consists of eight semiprivate rooms, including seven with two beds and one with three beds.
