For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions from the California Assn. of Nurserymen on what to do in the garden this week:

* Pinch back new growth for fuller fuchsias. This goes for petunias as well.

* Pick up and destroy camellia flowers that fall to the ground so that they don’t become a home for diseases.

* The local nursery may still have some shade trees in containers that you can take home and transplant.

* Add a generous layer of mulch on flower beds and the garden to conserve moisture in the soil and reduce the number of weeds.
