MOORPARK : Teachers, Board to Meet on Contract
Moorpark school board members have agreed to meet Tuesday in a special session with teachers representatives and state mediators in an attempt to resolve stalled labor negotiations.
Among the issues still left unresolved are wage increases, class sizes and benefits, said Yvonne Davis, personnel director of the Moorpark Unified School District.
More than 200 teachers are working under a three-year contract that expires June 30, 1991.
The district has offered an 8.4% increase in pay and benefits for the 1989-90 school year and a 5% increase for the 1990-91 school year.
Negotiators for the Moorpark Educators Assn. have asked for a 13% increase for the present school year and extra pay for larger classes.
Talks have been going on for nearly a year. The two sides last met April 6 with state mediators, Davis said.
