The R Contradictions

I am 14 years old, and most movies that appeal to me happen to be rated R. The theaters say that you have to be 18 or accompanied by an adult.

They also say when over the age of 12 you have to pay an adult ticket. What I don’t seem to understand is why I have to pay an adult ticket but cannot see R-rated films.

If the theaters say I have to pay an adult fee, why don’t they treat me like an adult and let me see R-rated movies? If they want to treat me like a child, let me pay child’s fee for a movie.
