Pharmacist Wounded in 3rd Attack in Year
For the third time in less than a year, Inglewood pharmacist Carl Franklin was wounded when a gunman walked into his pharmacy Friday, shot him three times and left without a word.
Lt. Tom Hoffman said the gunman entered the Van Ness Pharmacy at 8473 S. Van Ness Ave. shortly after 10 a.m. and shot Franklin twice in the chest and once in the arm. He left without taking anything from the store.
Customers and employees ducked for cover when the shooting started.
Franklin was rushed to Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, where he underwent surgery and was later reported to be in “very serious” condition.
Police said Franklin had been shot once before at his home and also perviously at work. Details of those shootings were not immediately known, but Hoffman said police were investigating to see if they are related.
