Victim of Alzheimer’s Drowns in Home Pool
An 81-year-old North Hollywood woman suffering from Alzheimer’s disease accidentally drowned when she apparently fell into a back-yard swimming pool, Los Angeles police said Wednesday.
Phyllis O’Shea was found at 10 p.m. Tuesday in the pool behind her home in the 11500 block of Hamlin Street, Lt. Ron LaRue said. It was unknown how long she had been in the pool. She lived alone at the home and was found by a caretaker who lived in another house on the property.
Because O’Shea suffered from the mentally debilitating disease and there was no sign of trauma on her body, police ruled her death an accident, LaRue said.
