Probation Officer Will Work With Troubled Youths
NORWALK — A deputy probation officer will be supervising troubled youths and their families in the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District under an agreement approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
Officer Joe Franco will be responsible for supervising students in the fifth, sixth and seventh grades who are having attendance and behavioral problems, and will help youngsters on probation.
The Gang Alternative and Prevention Program is aimed at preventing students from joining gangs or becoming involved with drugs, program Director Sandra Moss-Manson said. The district and the county will split the cost of Franco’s salary.
