Caring for Elderly
I was pleased to see in the Special Report on Elder Care that at least one daughter, Linda, shares her Sun Valley home with her father, Edwin. Congratulations to Linda for being a caring daughter.
After our children had left “the nest,” my husband and I shared our home with his 92-year-old mother. We both worked, and we were fortunate to secure a beautiful, slightly handicapped girl of 18 to care for her while we were away.
After two years in our home, while I held her hand, she quietly and peacefully died. In retrospect, it was a sweet experience.
But an unexpected fringe benefit of our caring for her in our home was that after her death, each of our three adult children thanked us for being so kind and good to their grandmother.
