Willie’s Place: Willie Nelson is getting into the nightclub business. Willie Nelson’s Night Life opens in Houston July 1, and will be on the scale of Gilley’s, the sprawling honky-tonk in nearby Pasadena that inspired the movie “Urban Cowboy” before closing last year. Nelson’s place will have 20,000 square feet, a vast dance floor and 18 bars. “It’s another Gilley’s with a touch of class,” said marketing director Max Gathings. “We were going to print bumper stickers saying, ‘Goodby Gilley’s, Hello Willie’s,’ but Willie didn’t think that was right.” Nelson, who is a business partner in the club, will perform opening night and on July 2.
