NORTH TUSTIN : Voters May Decide Advisory Unit’s Fate

The Foothill Communities Assn. is asking Supervisors Roger R. Stanton and Gaddi H. Vasquez to place the fate of the North Tustin Municipal Advisory Council on the November ballot.

Stanton and Vasquez have supported a recommendation by the county Environmental Management Agency to dissolve the council because the service district that funds it is facing a budget deficit. The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote on the issue at its June 5 meeting.

While some North Tustin residents support the recommendation, the Foothill Communities Assn. board of directors voted unanimously last week to fight it.

William Weber, president of the association, sent a letter dated May 29 to Vasquez and Stanton asking that the question of funding for the council be presented to the voters.

Meanwhile, Chairwoman Dessa Schroeder announced Tuesday that the North Tustin Municipal Advisory Council will meet at 7:30 tonight at Guin Foss School. If the board approves the EMA’s recommendation to end the council, it will be the body’s last meeting.
