Distributor Sues Toyota: A Maryland Toyota distributor, charging Toyota with violating its First Amendment rights, filed suit against the Japanese automobile giant in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles. Mid-Atlantic Toyota, a distributor of Toyotas in five Eastern states and the District of Columbia, seeks to nullify part of a 1987 agreement that bars the distributor from supporting legislation contrary to Toyota’s objectives. The suit is the second that Mid-Atlantic has filed against Toyota since June.
