Texas Instruments Inc.: The Dallas-based electronics firm said second-quarter net income plunged 89.6% to $11 million, while revenue dipped 2% to $1.592 billion. The firm said sharply lower prices for semiconductor memories and substantially higher start-up costs for new products and capacity were primarily responsible for the unfavorable change.
