Parking Rates at LAX to Rise as Much as 33%
Parking rates at Los Angeles International Airport will go up as much as 33% on Sept. 1, when a new rate structure takes effect at the same time that the airport begins collecting a new 10% city parking tax.
In the central terminal area, the charge for the first two hours or fraction of two hours will be $3, and the charge for each additional hour will be $1. So, those who park for an hour or less will have to pay $3 instead of the current $2. The maximum daily charge in the central area will rise to $16 from $15. The metered spaces will continue to cost 25 cents per 15 minutes.
Motorists may still park for free for the first two hours in the long-term lots. They will be charged $1 for each additional two hours up to a daily maximum of $5 for Lot B and $7 for Lot C.
The rate schedule will generate about $5.36 million for the city’s general fund and an additional $1.3 million for the airport, said Joe Clair, an airport spokesman.
