COSTA MESA : City, Firefighters Agree on Increases
The city and the Costa Mesa Firefighters Assn. reached a three-year agreement to increase salaries and benefits by 9.25% this year, placing the department in third place in the local marketplace.
The total one-year package will cost the city $447,000.
The increase puts a firefighter’s starting salary at $2,729 per month. The top salary is $3,317, with the mid-range level at $3,009, according to Personnel Director Steve Hayman.
Specialists and fire captains will receive a 10.5% salary increase, according to the agreement.
