Armored Truck Drops Quarters ‘Everywhere’
Associated Press
PORTLAND, Ore. —
Thousands of quarters spilled through an unlatched door after an armored truck hit a bump while rumbling across the Ross Island Bridge.
“Quarters were flyin’ everywhere,” said Allen Schmuck, who, with his friend, Tod Larsen, was traveling across the bridge Wednesday when three bags fell out of the truck.
Authorities used a shovel and broom to gather the coins. Officials from Oregon Armored Service Inc. declined to say how many quarters were involved, but police said no money was stolen.
