I never write to newspapers or any other media, but I just had to say hooray! for Jerry’s Hulse’s article on the Hyatt Regency Waikoloa. The person who built the place was so insensitive to the culture of the islands that to me it’s an insult to the people who live there. I understand that many royal fishponds were destroyed in order to create this “Disneyland.”

I wondered how long it would take for someone to have the courage to speak of it as Jerry Hulse did. After all, they do advertise in your newspaper. Hawaii to us is the least-invaded and commercialized of all islands, and we love it and hate to see what’s happening to it. Thank you so much for your thoughts on this expensive monstrosity.
