CANNES, France — An adviser to the son of Saudi Arabian King Fahd has lost $16 million since June on gaming tables at Cannes, a casino spokesman said today.
The losses by Sheik Eynani, an adviser to Prince Faisal, account for two-thirds of 1990 revenue at the Carlton casino in this fashionable seaside resort.
In four nights alone, the sheik lost $12.5 million at the casino’s roulette tables, including bets of $760,000 at a time, according to casino spokesmen.
The sheik is not a sore loser, however. Casino spokesmen say he has tipped croupiers more than $670,000.
In 1985, Sheik Eynani lost $15.3 million at the nearby Palm Beach casino.
